I started painting almost ten years ago. Art was a part of my healing journey from loss. Along the way, I had some great mentors but I am primarily self-taught - drawing inspiration for my art through my shamanic journey.
It has been mostly a personal endeavor these past years. I found great joy in creating art for myself with many of my pieces finding a home on our own walls.
As an introvert, it was hard to ‘put myself out there’. The pieces I’ve sold have been predominantly through word-of-mouth.
My first mentor Kathryn, has always believed that my work was worthy of being seen by a wider audience.
About six months ago, I was sitting next to a lady at dinner at a friend’s home in San Francisco. We had all just come from a special exhibit at the SFMOMA. Everyone there was interested in art in some capacity or the other. Diane, my neighbor at the dinner table, and I started talking about art and she asked to see my work. So I showed her some of my pieces on my iPhone. She remarked that she loved my work and that it represented a unique point-of-view, urging me to speak with galleries and to indeed ‘put myself out there’.
It turned out that she was a docent specializing in abstract art at SFMOMA. I decided to take the leap ...
Thanks to the art curator at Ruby Livingdesign in Mill Valley, Sally Cote, I’ve been given the opportunity to show my work, which I call “Shamanic Expressionism”.
My art will be on display through January 2020. I look forward to future opportunities to show my art.
I am blogging to expand the conversation about my art and art-related subjects. So, welcome to this site and my blog ....
